Warren Watson, Regents Professor of management

Warren Watson mugWarren Watson, right, 67, Regents Professor of management, died July 6 in Denton.

Watson joined the UNT management faculty in 1983. He was recognized nationally and internationally for his research in international business, entrepreneurship, organizational design and change and organizational culture. He taught classes on organizational behavior and organizational design and change.

He also was director of the UNT Group for Organizational Effectiveness, a business consulting service. In 2003, he developed a small business support center with the Universidad de Colima Mexico, providing education and consulting for international small businesses.

He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Texas Tech University in 1969, master’s degrees in public relations in 1971 and counseling in 1973 from East Texas State University and his doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Freda Watson.

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. July 12 at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton.
