UNT searches for VP for Research and Economic Development

President V. Lane RawlinsJan. 2, 2013

Dear UNT community,

Welcome back. I hope you had a restful and joyous holiday.

As you may know, we are beginning the search for a Vice President for Research and Economic Development and a search committee chaired by College of Arts and Sciences Dean Art Goven is leading that effort. We will move as quickly as possible to fill this position, continuing our search until the right candidate is found.

In the meantime, beginning this January, I will appoint an interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development. If you have an interest in this interim position, please submit a letter of application highlighting your qualifications for the position and management philosophy, resume, and names and contact information of three references by Jan. 15. You may send the materials to Susan Richroath, UNT College of Arts and Sciences, 1155 Union Circle #305189, Denton, Texas 76203-5017. Applications also can be hand delivered to her attention at the General Academic Building, Room 210. The search committee will consider all applicants with the aim of me filling the position by the end of the month.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Geoff Gamble for his service in positions where we’ve needed him – interim Senior Vice Provost and interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development. I plan to ask Dr. Gamble to undertake a special short-term assignment during the spring semester and will make that announcement later in January.

Thank you all for your work to ensure the success of our students and to keep us moving forward.

Sincerely,

V. Lane Rawlins

UNT President
