University promotional projects win national and regional awards

Choosing UNT recruitment ad 2012The Division of University Relations, Communications and Marketing has been recognized by several professional organizations for its promotional material.

Multiple individuals worked with division staff members to produce the award-winning materials, which included videos, magazines, photography, annual reports and advertising campaigns. The materials were prepared to promote UNT's range of academics, research and innovative student programs as well as the university's value to the North Texas region and to the state.

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) honored URCM in three categories. The awards included:

  • Silver in Best Video Feature for the UNT Lip Dub and 2011 Holiday Video
  • Bronze in General News Writing about the Mean Greens dining hall
  • Honorable Mention in Publications Writing for promotional material on funding graduate school

CASE is an international network of educational institutions focused on alumni relations, marketing and development. Find a list of this year’s winners.

Printing and Distribution Solutions also received recognition from the 2012 In-Print Awards, sponsored by In-plant Graphics magazine and In-plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA).

The department won 10 awards, more than any other organization in the country, including Best in Show in the Digital category. The department was also recognized by the Printing Industries of America and received three Excellence Awards and one Best of Category award in the Digital Invitation category.

URCM also placed in 10 categories in the 2012 Communicator Awards. The winning categories include:

  • Gold Award of Excellence for Finding Success with Financial Aid – Recruitment
  • Gold Award of Excellence for From Lost to Lauded – Newspaper Placement
  • Silver Award of Distinction for Chronicle Campaign – Advertising Campaign
  • Silver Award of Distinction for Finding Success with Financial Aid – Copy/Writing
  • Silver Award of Distinction for How to Fund Your Graduate Education – Copy/Writing
  • Silver Award of Distinction for Finding Success with Financial Aid – Educational
  • Silver Award of Distinction for Toulouse Graduate School – Viewbook
  • Silver Award of Distinction for College of Engineering – Campaign
  • Silver Award of Distinction for Transfer Advantage – Direct Mail
  • Silver Award of Distinction for A Diverse Community – Educational
  • Silver Award of Distinction for World of Fashion – Feature Article

The Communicator Awards honor those institutions with outstanding promotional marketing and communications material. It is sponsored by the International Academy of Visual Arts and receives more than 6,000 entries each year.

The Greater Fort Worth chapter of the Public Relations Society of America also awarded URCM three Worthy Awards. UNT competed with other area universities and local agencies and businesses. The awards were:

  • Award of Excellence for EaglePan promotion for the opening game at Apogee Stadium
  • Award of Excellence for UNT Research magazine
  • Award of Achievement for The North Texan alumni magazine

URCM received recognition from the 2012 Videographer Awards with two Awards of Excellence for producing the Nick Cave at UNT video and the Viewing North Texas video. The awards are given to organizations for excellence in video and digital media production.
