Training set for new I-9 verification

Do you assist with hiring and orientation?

If so, you should attend a training session to learn the Business Service Center-prepared digitized process to expedite employment verification.

Training will be July 24 for UNT and UNT System employees to learn about the new, more efficient and time-saving process. This includes administrative assistants, department hiring managers, and even departmental new-employee welcome committees.

Training for any UNT or UNT System employee who might at any time now or in the future be responsible for verifying a new employee’s I-9 documents - or helping new employees know where to have their documents verified - will be conducted from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and from 2 to 3 p.m., July 24 at Chilton Hall, Room 245. Training will be broadcast to Discovery Park, Room B155.

Employees do not have to be a designated I-9 authorizer to attend training; it is beneficial for all employees to be informed about the new system.

  • As of June 1, I-9 forms for faculty and staff are to be completed electronically.
  • Effective Aug. 1, forms for all new hires are to be completed electronically.

New employees will complete Section 1 of the I-9 during the online onboarding process. On the first day of employment, new employees must bring their I-9 documents to their hiring department. The appropriate I-9 authorizer will then complete the mandatory steps.
