Regular registration for the spring semester begins at 7 a.m. Jan. 10 and ends at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 13. Classes begin on Jan. 18. Late registration, which requires a $25 late fee, is from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 14 and continues from 7 a.m. Jan. 17 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19.

Employees and their families can take advantage of the university’s educational scholarship benefit, which pays the cost of UNT System Board of Regents designated tuition plus mandatory fees.

The benefit is available to faculty, staff and retirees and their dependents. Those who take advantage of the educational scholarship benefit must pay the $50 per credit hour state mandated tuition costs plus any instructional fees, and must buy or rent textbooks. Scholarship applications must be received by the 12th class day equivalent of each session or term.

The 2011 spring semester is a continuation of a base year, which began last summer. A base year is the academic year that the Texas Legislature uses to determine funding for public colleges and universities. Enrollment and semester credit hour numbers from this base year will help determine how much funding UNT receives from the state for general operations. In the legislative session beginning this month, lawmakers will determine funding for UNT and Texas’ other public universities for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 fiscal years.
