Spring Break arrives

Arch with flowersThe temperatures may have been resisting it, but spring is coming.

The campus will be closed March 10 for faculty and staff for Spring Break Day. Students will have the week off for Spring Break March 10-14.

Employees may want to sleep in on their day off after losing an extra hour of time March 9 for Daylight Savings Time.

Although classes will not take place that week, some campus activity will be happening, especially in the sports world.

The men’s and women’s basketball team will be participating in the Conference USA Tournament March 11-12 in El Paso. The men have a 15-15 record, and the women have a 12-17 record.

The Mean Green softball team is on a hot streak with a 13-5 record. After a game against Middle Tennessee State University March 8 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., it willl play several home games at Loveless Stadium — the University of Texas March 11, Oklahoma State March 12 and the University of Texas at San Antonio March 15-16.

Many students will be participating in Alternative Spring Break, with individuals helping out in food banks in Memphis, Tenn.; cleaning up Galveston Bay; and learning about the Civil Rights movement in Selman, Ala., among other trips.

Other upcoming holidays include:

  • May 26 — Memorial Day
  • July 4 — Independence Day
