Simmons selected editor of “Life Science Quarterly Review”

Denise Simmons, research developmentDenise Perry Simmons, left, senior director of research development, has been named editor of the Dallas Regional Chamber's Life Science Quarterly Review. The position is concurrent with her work at UNT.

The Quarterly Review provides information about and to university and institute researchers, business and commercial executives, investors, healthcare providers and related service providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The review is an important source for entrepreneurs and researchers to learn about grants and contracts related to cancer prevention and intervention.

As editor, Simmons has an opportunity to highlight the diverse ways in which the chamber's 2,500-plus members contribute to the economic prosperity of the North Texas region. The UNT System has been affiliated wih the chamber for 30 years.

Simmons also is UNT's representative on the chamber's Life Science Council. The council includes executives, universities, life science companies and other organizations that actively promote public policy issues, and research and economic development. Council chair is Joel Allison, president and CEO of Baylor Health Care System.

Before joining UNT, Simmons was director of clinical research at the John Theurer Cancer Center with the Hackensack University Medical Center, a National Cancer Institute Research Fellow, biotech researcher, manager and inventor.
