Seminar to explain how ERS and Medicare provide insurance

Medicare signingFaculty and staff who want to learn about Medicare are invited to a free seminar sponsored by the Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS), which administers health insurance for all State of Texas employees.

The free seminar will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 19 in the Business Leadership Building, Room 155.

Medicare is the federally sponsored health insurance program for adults age 65 or older. It was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. Most faculty and staff should enroll in Medicare three months prior to their 65th birthday.

This seminar will discuss and explain the relationship between all ERS health insurance programs, options for employees age 65 and for retirees and their survivors and dependents who have benefits through ERS.
