Science and Technology Library to close for renovations

A new look for a new year is coming to the Science and Technology Library, located in the Information Sciences Building. The library will close for a major renovation Nov. 15 and will reopen Jan. 10.

Renovations will touch all public areas of the library excluding the bookshelves. The Harris Reading Room on the first floor will be dramatically redesigned to accommodate a new collaboration and learning commons.

Services

The focus of this renovation will be collaborative and group learning spaces with the latest technology, including interactive 64 inch Smart Boards, oversized monitors, projectors and areas for using both iMacs and PCs loaded with software: Visio 2010, Photoshop CS5, Google Sketchup, MacOSX Snow Leopard, Handbrake and Audacity. Comfortable chairs and sofas in contemporary tones will complete these dynamic new spaces. Below, design and decorating plan.

Service changes

Since the Science and Technology Library will be closed to the UNT community for eight weeks, a number of measures will ensure continued access to the books and materials housed in the building.

The circulation department in Willis Library will assist students, faculty and others who need to check out books and materials located in the Science and Technology Library

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can place requests at the circulation desk in the Willis Library, and materials will be pulled every half hour, with wait times for delivery of 30 minutes or less. Requests placed after 5 p.m. will be ready for pickup the next morning. All reference and reserve materials also will be available in the Willis Library. Students in need of study spaces are welcome here.
