Remodeled Bruceteria opens with pizza, pasta serving area

Bruceteria, remodeled cafeteria in Bruce Hall 2012By Alyssa Yancey, News Promotions

After being closed during the Fall 2011 semester for a complete remodel, the dining hall in Bruce Hall, above, will reopen for dinner Wednesday, Jan. 11. Dinner begins at 4:30 p.m.

The remodeling was completed to better serve the growing number of students and guests visiting the dining hall, now known as the Bruceteria. Before closing last year Bruce was serving approximately 3,500 meals a day.

“On the outside Bruce looked great, but the kitchen could not handle the volume of students we needed to service,” said Ken Botts, director of special projects for UNT Dining Services. “In anticipation of an increase in campus population combined with the popularity of Bruce, we had to do something and a complete remodel made the most sense.”

Bruce Hall cafeteria remodeled; bar seating 2012The newly renovated space includes an expanded service area that includes a new pasta and pizza line. The new line will give guests the opportunity to watch the Bruceteria staff making pizzas and pasta dishes from scratch. The Bruce menu will continue to include fresh hot entrees, sides, a sandwich bar, rotisserie chicken, pizza and pasta, and also will include a bigger salad bar and more vegetarian options.

Bruce Hall is located on the northeast corner of Chestnut and Ave. C.

The Bruceteria will be open Monday through Friday. Meal service is:

  • Breakfast, 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lite lunch from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Dinner, 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays.

The hall accepts meal plans, cash and credit/debit cards. Dining services offers discounted meal plans for faculty and staff.
