Reminder: EIS blackout periods for business transactions

Dear UNT System community,

As a reminder, due to the PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade and the new Chart of Accounts implementation this semester, and the upcoming Hyperion planning project there are a series of blackout dates in February that will affect many different business transactions for UNT System faculty, staff and students.

As Chancellor Lee Jackson mentioned in previous communications, during these blackout periods in the PeopleSoft Enterprise Information System (EIS) you will not be able to process certain transactions:

  • ePro (eProcurement): used by departments to submit and approve requisitions for goods/services.

PURCHASING BLACKOUT PERIOD: Feb. 12 - March 1. The deadline for submitting new requisitions is Friday, Feb. 12 and no further requisitions will be accepted until March 1.

  • ePAR (electronic Payroll Action Request): used by departments to submit and approve payroll/HR transactions such as hires, terminations and employee changes.

PAYROLL BLACKOUT PERIOD: Feb. 1 - March 1. The deadline for submitting new employee hires and employee payroll changes other than termination was Monday, Feb. 1. During February, the only payroll related actions accepted in the system will be to approve the pending ePARs by Feb. 15 and submitting certain employee terminations by Feb. 25. All other new payroll actions will resume on March 1.

  • Other financial transactions (e.g., account budget authorizations, journal worksheets, interdepartmental orders/transfers, deposits, etc.): used to record financial adjustments to both budget and/or actuals.

BUDGET ADJUSTMENT BLACKOUT PERIOD: Feb. 22 - March 1. For these 10 days, no further budget adjustments or recording of actual account transactions will be possible and the transactions will be recorded starting on March 1 in the new budget accounts.

Faculty and staff who work with the Campus Solutions student system (EIS) should be aware of the following blackout periods impacting students and departmental deposits:

  • Department Deposits BlackOut Period: 1 p.m. Feb. 25 - March 1. Department deposits that need to post prior to March 1 must be received by University Cashiering by 1 p.m. on Feb. 25. Deposits received after 1 p.m. on Feb. 25 will be processed on March 1. Please continue to bring department deposits to University Cashiering during the blackout period for safe keeping.
  • All Campus Solutions Student Systems including myUNT, myDallas, myHSC, myLaw and mySystem BlackOut Period: 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 - 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29 Students should be advised that the student portal systems will be unavailable during this time for system upgrades. The BlackBoard Learn and Canvas systems will not be affected by this outage and will be available for student and faculty use.
