Recruitment ads, TV spots receive national honors

B.H. Fairchild adThe Division of University Relations, Communications and Marketing has been recognized by the 27th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, presented by Higher Education Marketing Report, for its excellence in promotional materials.

The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, almost 3,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries.

URCM won four Educational Advertising Awards – two Silver awards, one Bronze award and one Merit award. The awards were:

  • Silver award for the Chronicle Campaign in the Magazine Advertising/Series category.
  • Silver award for the Recruitment Ad featuring Amy Simpson in the Newspaper Advertising/Single Ad category.
  • Bronze award for the Chronicle Ad featuring B.H. Fairchild, professor of English, in the Magazine Advertising/Single Ad category, above.
  • Merit award for the Recruitment Ad Campaign in the Newspaper Advertising/Series category.

URCM also won gold for its 30-second TV spot “Only One” from the Ava Awards. The Ava Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication.

The Ava Awards is administered and judged by the association of marketing and communication professionals (AMCP). The organization also oversees the MarCom Awards and the Hermes Creative Awards, two of the largest competitions in the world for marketing and communications professionals. During the fall 2011 semester, URCM was awarded nine Marcom Awards.
