Parking lots to close for Thursday football game

Sept. 9, 2014

Due to the Mean Green's football game against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 11, UNT students, faculty and staff will be required to vacate several parking lots early on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 this week.

Faculty, staff and students are advised that there will be heavy traffic on North Texas Boulevard and I-35E Thursday afternoon.  Please consider alternate routes to avoid game traffic congestion.

The parking lots at Victory Hall, the Mean Green Village, and Fouts Field will be used for game-day parking and tailgating, and will be closed on the following schedule:

  • Victory Hall Paver Lot — Students, faculty and staff must move their vehicles by 5 p.m. Sept. 10 to make the lot available for Mean Green fans and tailgating. Unauthorized vehicles will be towed. Vehicles in this lot after 5 p.m. Wednesday must have a Blue or Red game-day parking pass.
  • Victory Hall Lots 80 & 81 — Students, faculty and staff must move their vehicles out of the lot by 1 p.m. Sept. 11, Towing will start after 1 p.m. for all vehicles remaining in the lot. The lot will be available for fans and tailgating for vehicles with Blue or Red parking passes beginning at 1 p.m.
  • Mean Green Village Lots 71-77 — Students, faculty and staff must move their vehicles out of the lot by 1 p.m. on Sept. 11. Towing will start after 1 p.m. for all vehicles remaining in the lot. The lot will be available for fans and game-day staff at 1 p.m.
  • Fouts Field Lot 20 — Students, faculty and staff must move their vehicles out of the lot by 1 p.m. Sept. 11. Towing will start after 1 p.m. for all vehicles remaining in the lot.

If you are conducting business in any of the buildings that utilize Fouts Field Lot 20, access will not be granted to staff or visitors after 1 p.m.  Please make other arrangements.

Those with campus-parking permits may park in the Highland Street Parking Garage without being charged.

  • Take a ticket as usual to raise the gate for entry.
  • The exit gates will be raised between noon Sept. 11 and noon Sept. 12 for free exit.
  • Exits prior to noon Thursday or after noon Friday will require payment.

UNT shuttle buses will operate as normal. Once the traffic control plan is implemented around 5:00 p.m., the Eagle Point route will stop operating and the North Texan route will be modified to accommodate traffic and street closures. The Campus Cruiser route will be modified to drop off and pick up at Fouts; students will need to use the Pedestrian Bridge to catch the Campus Cruiser. ERide will operate as normal at 9 p.m., but calls will be restricted to the main campus and Discovery Park.
