New state travel cards to arrive soon, others expire April 30

The State of Texas Charge Card Program recently contracted with Citibank to be the new provider for the personal liability travel cards. The JP Morgan Chase cards in circulation will no longer be valid as of April 30, 2011. Existing cardholders should receive new Citibank cards at their home address in the next few weeks.

The card is issued through the state of Texas in the name of the traveler, to be used for business travel expenses. The cardholder pays the balance in fully each month by the due date and submits a travel voucher to Purchasing and Payment Services for reimbursement. This is the most efficient way to purchase airfare, book hotel accommodations and pay for shuttle services. The card features the added benefits of travel accident insurance, lost luggage insurance and automobile rental insurance.

Please destroy the JP Morgan card immediately upon receiving and activating the Citibank card. Continue to reconcile all charges incurred on the JP Morgan card, statements will be sent until the balances are paid in full. All JP Morgan cards will be closed April 30.

This applies only to Individually Billed Account - IBA- cardholders.

The IBA travel card is the preferred method of payment for university related travel expenses.

We are looking forward to a successful partnership with Citibank.

If you need any assistance during this time of transition or have not received a new card by the end of April please contact our office at 940-565-3200 or send an email to

If you don’t have a State of Texas Travel Card, request information about how to apply for the card by sending an email to
