New Onboarding Guide for Managers available

Based on feedback from surveys, Human Resources has developed an enhanced Onboarding Guide for Managers that contains useful templates, including a training template to help hiring managers prepare for a new employee’s first day, week, month and year.

The Guide can be found on the HR website, or you may contact your HR Consulting Team for more information.

Here's a look at the top four reasons to invest in your new hire:

#4 Employees need to feel they are important and made the right decision to work for UNT.

93 percent of new staff employees surveyed said they would recommend UNT as a great place to work.

#3 Employees want to feel connected to fellow employees and the organizational culture.

Employees who experience a comprehensive onboarding program that goes beyond just filling out paperwork report higher satisfaction. New staff hires stated they joined UNT because of the ability to work with students, the opportunities for growth, stability, and benefits.

#2 A comprehensive onboarding program increases new employee engagement and reduces turnover.

Feedback showed only 49 percent of new UNT staff hires were provided a training plan upon hire.  UNT statistics show that the majority of staff turnover occurs within the first two years of employment at UNT.

#1 Successful onboarding expedites a new employee getting up to speed and becoming productive.

84 percent of new staff employees stated they received adequate information on office procedures and     general protocol.  When new employees aren’t sweating the small stuff, they can focus on learning their jobs.
