Nancy Kent, data analyst, URCM

Nancy KentNancy Renee Kent, 45, a data analyst in the Division of University Relations, Communications and Marketing, passed away Dec. 20 at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas.

She began working at UNT in 1991. She graduated from UNT in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in integrative studies. Before coming to Denton, she briefly attended Southwestern University in Georgetown.

Her UNT family captured her career. Hard working, with an unquenchable, genuine desire to help, she filled the need for computer support in URCM, and all the while she brightened her colleagues’ lives for nearly twenty-five years.

Kent had a genuine love for other people and for making them feel special. She once said “I can’t separate caring. Never could. Don’t want to.” She loved caring for others and for the stray cats she adopted.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, her parents and two brothers.

A service is planned for 3:15 p.m. Jan. 7 at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust Street, in Denton. The family will receive visitors starting 2 p.m. A brief graveside service to be held for her at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 711 S. Carroll Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the UNT Feral Cat Rescue group 940-390-0555.
