Neil Foote named president of National Black Public Relations Society

Neil FooteNeil Foote, principal lecturer of the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism, has been named the president of the National Black Public Relations Society. Founded in 1998, the society has chapters in the major media markets to address the diverse needs of its members through peer-to-peer support, mentorship, networking, job opportunities, internships and career advancement strategies. It serves professionals in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, government affairs, community relations and related fields. 

Foote joined UNT’s faculty in 2007. He is president of his own media consulting firm in Dallas, Foote Communications, and has worked at The Miami Herald, The Washington PostThe Dallas Morning News, the Belo Corporation and at the Tom Joyner Morning Show. He also worked for The American Society of Newspaper Editors. 

In addition to being a newspaper reporter, he has led advertising sales teams, helped develop strategy and launch websites and developed and managed public relations for Tom Joyner and his media company. Foote is a contributor to the textbook, Race, Gender, Class, and Media: Studying Mass Communication and Multiculturalism.
