Josephine Onita, plane crash fatality

Josephine Onita obituaryAlumna Josephine Onita, 23, was killed in a June 3 plane crash in Lagos, Nigeria.

Onita, 23, was a 2009 graduate and accounting major. She was manager of a Houston-area accounting business founded by her father Solomon Onita, who immigrated to the U.S. more than 20 years ago.

Survivors include parents, Solomon and Lola Onita, sister and brother. Funeral services are pending in Missouri City.

Nigerian officials and representatives of the U.S. Transportation and Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash, which killed 153 passengers, plus others on the ground.  

Onita’s sister, Jennifer, 28, and an engineering graduate of Texas Tech University, also was killed in the crash. The two were in Nigeria to attend a wedding.
