The Sustainability Council opened the Office of Sustainability to focus its efforts on the proposed 28 initiatives outlined in Green Paper #1. The Sustainability Council's 28 recommendations will work to build campus infrastructure and develop programs by engaging students, faculty, and staff in a transformative movement to become a more sustainable community of higher learning.

The council proposed that this transformation begin by including sustainability in the UNT Strategic Plan. This will promote connections between people and the environment as well as establish sustainability as a core value in the 2013-2018 Strategic Plan.
