Intensive English Language Institute celebrates 35th anniversary

IELI Lab AssistantsThe Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) began 35 years ago to provide academic English preparation to students who wished to enroll at UNT but did not have the necessary English language skills.

Over the years, thousands of studnts have successfully completed the very rigorous curriculum, with many enrolling in undergraduate or graduate programs at UNT or other universities.  IELI alumni are often leaders in technology, industry, and education in their home countries.

IELI is celebrating its anniversary Nov. 14 and will be having activities and games in the University Union Courtyard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  A representative from the city of Denton's  and mayor's office will read a proclamation, declaring it officially "IELI Day" in Denton.

The UNT community is invited to join the celebration and learn more about IELI.

Eunji Kim and Ying Jin, above,  IELI Lab Assistants, congratulate IELI on 35 years.

The IELI Lab opened Nov. 12 in its new location in Marquis Hall, Room 314.
