Help keep the flu bug at bay with vaccination, hand washing

It’s not too late to get a flu shot to help protect against this year’s flu strain.

But the Student Health and Wellness Center is no longer offering flu shots. The center's allotment of vaccine has been used.

For assistance, contact your family physician or the Denton County Health Department.

Wash your hands to prevent flu transmission.People at high risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease and people 65 years and older.

The Centers for Disease Control says the best way to prevent seasonal flu is by getting the seasonal flu vaccine.

Other preventive measures include regular hand washing with soap and water or an alcohol-based rub, coughing or sneezing into a tissue, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and stay home if you are sick.
