Graduate students earn awards at research symposium

More than 50 graduate students from UNT, TWU and Texas A&M-Commerce presented research in the form of poster presentations and competed for cash awards during the 2016 Federation Graduate Student Research Symposium at Texas Woman’s University April 8. This annual event gives graduate students the opportunity to share their research and network with students and faculty from each of the three participating Federation universities.

This year, UNT students took home three awards:

Humanities, Education, Social Sciences & Business:

3rd Place - Lee Bedford, Behavioral Science (Doctoral)

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math:

1st Place - Mearaj Shaikh, Biology (Doctoral)

3rd Place - Aditya Ayyagari, Materials Science and Engineering (Doctoral); Aditya won 2nd place award in last year’s Symposium.

The Federation of North Texas Area Universities, established in 1968 with guidance from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, enables the sharing of resources between the University of North Texas at Denton (UNT), Texas Woman's University at Denton and Texas A&M University-Commerce. One of the major benefits of this special agreement is that it allows graduate students from each of the member universities to expand their course offerings through cross-registration, while receiving credit and paying tuition at their home institution.  For additional information regarding the Federation or cross-registration, please visit the UNT Federation Webpage or contact UNT Federation Representative Jackie Karlsson, Jackie.Karlsson@unt.edu.
