Four campus buildings to undergo asbestos abatement

Facilities Maintenance licensed technicians will be involved with asbestos abatement during Spring Break week, March 14-18. Monday, March 14, is a university holiday for faculty, staff and students. Student break continues through Friday, March 18.

Asbestos abatement is a controlled process, so Facilities asks that faculty, staff and students please avoid these areas until the work is complete.

  • Music Annex, Room 102
  • Hurley Administration Building, first floor men's restroom
  • Marquis Hall, C114
  • Life Sciences Complex, A217 and A218

Asbestos is a mineral fiber that has been used commonly in a variety of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire-retardant. Because of its fiber strength and heat resistant properties, asbestos has been used for a wide range of building and construction. The university regularly monitors asbestos use in campus buildings to ensure proper use.
