Fall commencement ceremonies scheduled Dec. 17-18

Fall commencement ceremonies honoring the achievements of 3,051 students will be Dec. 17 and Dec. 18. This fall 2,455 undergraduate students, 543 master’s students and 53 doctoral candidates applied for graduation.

The weekend of ceremonies will begin with the master’s and doctoral ceremony at 4 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Coliseum.

Because of the growing number of audience members, the doctoral ceremony - previously located in the Murchison Performing Arts Center - has been combined with the master’s ceremony and will be located at the larger venue of the Coliseum. Each master’s student will receive a UNT logo lapel pin, and doctoral candidates will receive a medallion with the university seal. Also, master of fine arts candidates will wear brown cord and regalia caps to identify them as recipients of a terminal degree.

Baccalaureate commencement ceremonies for the university’s 10 colleges and schools will be at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Coliseum.

This year, for the first time, each undergraduate will be given a green yoke with the UNT seal embroidered on the front to be worn over the robe. The addition to the regalia was a vision of President V. Lane Rawlins.
