Enter to win tickets to College of Music performances

Concert OrchestraThe College of Music's April lineup of events is packed with performances showcasing the musical talent of students and faculty. UNT faculty and staff can win tickets to see one of three highlighted performances listed below:

  • Coronation of Poppea (Opera): One pair of tickets for the April 8 performance at 8 p.m. and 1 pair of tickets for the April 10 performance at 3 p.m.
  • Concert Orchestra: Three pairs of tickets are available for the April 20 performance at 8 p.m.
  • Symphony Orchestra and Grand Chorus- Haydn’s Creation: Three pairs of tickets are available for the April 27 performance at 8:00pm.

In Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, the beautiful and ruthless Poppea schemes, murders, and seduces her way to the very top of the Roman Empire. The music propels a story of adventure while still seeming stunningly fresh, contemporary, and scandalous.

The Concert Orchestra and conductor Clay Couturiaux perform Grammy-nominee and UNT faculty member Richard DeRosa’s new work, Suite for an Anniversary. This composition commemorates the 125thanniversary of the University of North Texas and showcases some of the extraordinary talent within the College of Music in both the classical and jazz programs.

UNT’s Symphony Orchestra and Grand Chorus will perform Haydn’s The Creation, a work inspired by the book of Genesis and John Milton’s Paradise Lost. It is a vivid three-part musical depiction of the creation of the universe, planets, animals and man, as well as Adam and Eve’s life in paradise.

All performances will be held in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

To be entered to win tickets, send an email with “Ticket giveaway” to by 5 p.m.  April 7. Winners will be selected at random from all responses.
