Deep in the Heart of Dallas

Bowl bound

Dear UNT community,
The Mean Green football team has accepted an invitation to play at the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Jan. 1 at the Cotton Bowl — our first bowl game appearance since 2004! I can’t think of a better start for our first season in Conference USA or a better way to celebrate 100 years since the start of Mean Green football.
The bowl game appearance caps an excellent season with an 8-4 overall record and 6-2 conference record. Coach McCarney and the football team have made us especially proud this season and I hope you will be at the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1 to cheer them on to victory. Our opponent will be the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels. Let’s turn the Cotton Bowl green — Mean Green — on New Year’s Day!
This is a proud moment for the Mean Green Nation. We are the only university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to earn a bowl invitation this year. Playing at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas gives us a chance to show the world that UNT is the home team for the entire North Texas region.
This is the start of an exciting new chapter in Mean Green football, and I hope to see all of our fans — students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends — turn out in force for the Mean Green’s appearance in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
  • Tickets are $75 each and are on sale now. Tickets also can be purchased at the North Texas Athletic Ticket Office at Apogee Stadium.
Join us on bowl day for some great football. Be loud and be proud. Go Mean Green!
