Deadline April 20 to submit entry for online course, teaching awards

By Amber Bryant, CLEAR

Deadline is April 20 for submissions to be considered for the annual outstanding online courses awards.

Each year CLEAR (Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign) presents awards to recognize outstanding online courses that have been designed or taught by UNT faculty. If you designed or taught a course in 2011 that you think is worthy of consideration for this award , or if you know of a colleague's course that you think should be considered, please fill out the  nomination form and send it to CLEAR by April 20

This year we are accepting nominations for courses designed or taught in either Blackboard Vista or Blackboard Learn. In addition to the nomination form, you'll find the Quality Matters Rubric. This is the rubric that CLEAR instructional consultants will use to evaluate this year's nominees. If a nominee's course or teaching is selected as outstanding or exemplary, he or she will be notified by early summer.

Award presentations will take place during the Salute to Faculty Excellence Week in October.

We also encourage nominations for outstanding teaching to include examples or comments students have made from discussion posts, email messages, blog posts, etc. that help to illustrate or demonstrate ways in which the instructor interacted with students in the course. Evidence of an instructor's interaction with students in the course, or student comments about the course helps us evaluate the overall effectiveness of the learning experience. Please protect all student privacy by deleting the name of any student who is part of a dialog, interaction, or comment that is submitted as evidence.

We want to thank all of our online teachers who strive to make learning at UNT an exceptional value. We look forward to receiving your nominations soon.
