Davis named director of Office of Equal Opportunity

Jarred Davis, director, Office of Equal OpportunityJarred Davis, right, has been named director of the Office of Equal Opportunity for the UNT System Human Resources Department.

As director, Davis is responsible for strategic and operational activities related to statutory and regulatory requirements for Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, Title IX, veterans’ preference and other guidelines and policies related to equity, diversity, discrimination and harassment.

He oversees development of policies that address equal opportunity compliance and support non-discriminatory hiring procedures. Davis also is a resource for training programs related to diversity initiatives, compliance and conflict resolution.

Davis has more than 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, including job duties related to equal employment activities, personnel management and operations.

Davis formerly was equal opportunity manager at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, where he worked with the Policy Office and Office of General Counsel to revise equal opportunity-related policies and procedures. He also was assistant director of Human Resources at the University of North Texas at Dallas, where he supervised Equity and Diversity compliance initiatives and partnered with managers to facilitate strategic recruiting and hiring processes.

Prior to joining UNT Dallas, Davis served in various human resources roles at Lockheed Martin, Fort Worth; Nortel Networks Inc., Dallas.; and Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Davis holds bachelor’s and master’s of science degrees from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He is a board member of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Alumni Association, and a member of the North Texas Industry Liaison Group and the Urban League of Greater Dallas.

UNT System Human Resources is the third shared service for the UNT System, joining the Business Service Center and Information Technology Shared Services.
