Construction Obstruction Report: May 2016


Flag #1               NORTH TEXAS BOULEVARD / I-35 INTERSECTION-NORTH                   

Location:  Intersection of North Texas Boulevard and I-35 and various surrounding streets

Project Lead: AGL/City of Denton/Helen Bailey

Duration: September 2015 to spring 2017

Description:  Realignment of the frontage roads, construction on the new North Texas Boulevard bridge will cause closures of various streets and may cause obstruction of walkways.



Location: East and south sides of building, 1ST floor, mechanical

Project Lead: Julie Sands and Janna Morgan

Duration: December 2015 to December 2016

Description: Interior renovation of 1st floor, MEP, accessibility. Sidewalks and parking spots will be blocked by job site perimeter fencing for the duration of the project.


Flag #3                 UNION CONSTRUCTION AND LANDSCAPING         

Location:  University Union, By Highland Street

Project Lead: Jeannine Vail

Duration: April 2013 to May 2016

Description:   University Union landscape work continues. Sidewalk on Highland Street obstructed while demolition is in progress.


Flag 4                   RAWLINS HALL                      

Location:  Corner of Maple Street, Avenue D, and Eagle Blvd (west of Honors Hall and Clark Hall)

Project Lead: Janna Morgan

Duration: May 2014 to May 2016

Description:  Site work to the west courtyard.  Street and sidewalk closures to be expected.




Location: Maple Hall loading dock off South Avenue C

Project Lead: Jeff Hilliard

Duration: June 2016

Description: Remove and replace Maple Dining Hall concrete drive and side walk. May cause obstruction of walkways.

Location: South of McConnell Hall on Chestnut Street

Project Lead: Jeannine Vail

Duration: December 2015 to May 2016

Description: Demolition may cause closure of sidewalks on Chestnut Street.

Location: East of the University Union, Lot #49

Project Lead: Jeannine Vail

Duration: April 2013 to May 2016

Description: Construction crew and equipment using lot for landscape work may cause obstruction of walkways.


Flag #8                 LANGUAGE BUILDING

Location: The plaza: north, east, and south sides of the building

Project Lead: Sharon Kirkpatrick

Duration: April 2016 to August 2016

Description: Renovation of building plaza.  Includes removal and replacement of concrete, sub-soil drains, access ramp, and planter.  May cause obstruction of walkways.

Location: Northeast side of building

Project Lead: Jeff Hilliard

Duration: December 2015 to May 2016

Description: Contractor will tie-in fire pump to city water line on Maple Street blocking portions of the sidewalk.

Location: Breezeway adjacent to College Inn courtyard, near main office.

Project Lead: Monica Thomas

Duration: May 2016 to July 2016

Description: Addition of exterior egress stairway to be constructed. Breezeway to be blocked at different periods of assembly

Location: Parking lot on east side of Chestnut Hall

Project Lead: Charlie Scaife

Duration: May 2016 to August 2016

Description: Lot Five will be closed through the duration of McConnell Hall Construction in 2016. Large construction equipment will impede access to parking lot.


Flag #12               BRUCE HALL RENOVATION

Location: North, West, East, and dock areas of Bruce Hall

Project Lead: Ed Carrigan

Duration: May 2016 to August 2016

Description: Periodic closure of streets and sidewalks for delivery of equipment and materials.
