Cognos Reports are now live

March 2, 2016

Dear faculty and staff,

We are pleased to announce the first of many new Cognos Reports are ready for your use and accessible through your component report portal.  As part of the UNT System-wide Financial Improvement Transition (FIT) program, UNT’s Data, Analytics & Institutional Research Office worked in collaboration with all UNTS component Chief Financial Officers, Budget Offices and the Unified Controller Office to create these reports for campus departments.  These FIT Cognos reports are the first reports to leverage the strengths of the new upgrade to the PeopleSoft Finance 9.2 environment.

We believe the Chart of Account reporting environment will enable all users to realize best practices in financial resource management, reporting, analysis and budgeting.  The PeopleSoft upgrade from 9.0 to 9.2 will provide enhanced features and expanded capabilities.  These features are intended to offer staff at each campus greater control and visibility into their financial data with the benefit of accurate reporting by including the new Chart of Accounts structure.

Until future webpages are built to address training and specific Cognos related issues, a special website has been created off of the main FIT webpage to help users with resources and updates related to reporting.  We uploaded a comprehensive “how to” guide to help you get started until training classes start for using the reports.  This guide will also be updated as changes occur.  The site includes contact information to help assist with questions about either the new Chart of Accounts or the reports.

With the FIT program, the UNT System is investing in our people and key information systems to address the ever-increasing demands for effective and superior financial reporting.  Please watch for future updates to these reports as new features are added.

Best Regards,
