Charles M. Foster Jr., retired College of Business professor

Charles M. Foster Jr., College of Business faculty, obituaryCharles M. (Chuck) Foster, Jr., retired associate professor in the College of Business, died Nov. 29 in Dallas. He was 72.

Foster was a member of the Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) for more than 40 years. He retired in 2011.

Foster received the ‘Fessor Graham Award for teaching excellence and was a UNT Honor Professor. He also won the Ralph C. Hoeber Award for Excellence in Research from the Academy of Legal Studies in Business in 1995 and the 1997 Best Paper Award from the Southern Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

Foster received bachelor of arts and doctor of jurisprudence degrees from SMU, and an MBA from then-North Texas State University.

He began teaching as an MBA student in 1971. He was awarded tenure in 1978.

Foster was a mentor to business students and served on university, college and departmental committees. He also served on the Student Code of Conduct Committee.

Foster is survived by his beloved dog, Louie, and cat, Spiro, who now reside with department colleagues.

Donations may be made to the FIREL Department Scholarship Fund.
