Campus sandwich concept earns another national award

Food Management's Best Concepts Awards

Khush Roti - Dining Services' ethnic sandwich service - was named Best Convenience Retailing Concept by Food Management® magazine for 2011.

The annual program recognizes exceptional achievement and innovation in key areas of noncommercial food service, as judged by Food Management’s editorial staff.

Khush Roti, below, previously won an award from the National Association of College and University Food Services.

This is what Food Management® magazine said:

"Khush Roti offers a menu of sophisticated, internationally-themed sandwiches priced at a competitive $4.99 to commuters in a high-traffic intercept point from a strategically sited mobile cart ... Its sandwich menu is inspired by nine ethnic cuisines with such offerings as the Tandoori Naanwich and the Ricky Ricardo (Cuban sandwich). Khush Roti was recognized for offering a highly effective way to generate additional cash sales for the department."

Food Management’s editors base their award decisions on the impact of a program, its effectiveness in achieving targeted results, the impact it may have on others in the field and the level of innovation within its segment of the industry. - Alexis Barnfield, Dining Services marketing
