Art meets science at UNT

Interior%20Collage_Research%202016_3.jpgLeonardo da Vinci — artist, engineer, inventor — embodied the convergence of art and science, which ultimately leads to a greater understanding of the world. As a hub of creativity and innovation in all forms, UNT is championing the art-meets-science approach to further understanding and discovery. The new edition of UNT Research magazine showcases how UNT is breaking down the barriers of linear thinking and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations to push innovation.

Also in this issue:

  • In his article “STEM to STEAM,” Greg Watts, dean of the College of Visual Arts and Design, explains why educators must emphasize arts along with science, technology, engineering and math.
  • Michael C. Carroll, the university’s economist and director of the Economic Research Group at UNT, explores the innovation economy and how successful businesses or organizations transform knowledge into innovation.
  • Michael Rondelli, associate vice president for economic development, is helping UNT expand its licensing and commercialization efforts.

Copies of the magazine are being distributed around campus. The magazine is published for the Office of Research and Economic Development by the Division of University Relations, Marketing and Communications.
