Art faculty members, students open doors for tours

Vincent FalsettaThe College of Visual Arts and Design will host guided tours of the studios for several Master of Fine Arts candidates and three art faculty members as part of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas day-long Art Bus Tour on Nov. 10.

The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. at the Cohn Drennan Contemporary, 1107 Dragon St. in Dallas. Tour coordinators Cohn and Cathy Drennan are both alumni who direct a gallery in Dallas.

The bus will depart at 10 a.m. for a tour, demonstration and viewing of prints by nationally recognized artists at the P.R.I.N.T. fine art press, as well as a visit to the UNT Art Gallery to see the 40-year retrospective show of Regents Professor Elmer Taylor’s ceramics.

Susan Sanders, CVAD director of development, will then give a guided tour of current Master of Fine Arts candidates’ studios.

After lunch, the guests will visit the studios of faculty members Annette Lawrence, Vincent Falsetta, above, and Robert Jessup. The bus will then return guests back to Dallas, with the tour scheduled to end at 4 p.m.

“Bringing this group to Denton will give us an opportunity to showcase not only talented faculty from our drawing and painting program, but also P.R.I.N.T., our Print Research Institute of North Texas; the UNT Art Galleries; and the constantly changing cultural scene in Denton,” said Robert Milnes, dean of the College of Visual Arts and Design.
