Acting, directing professor to premier cabaret performance at festival

Marjorie Hayes, acting profMarjorie Hayes, associate professor of acting and directing, will present the Southwest regional premiere of Taking Chances – A Cabaret with Marjorie Hayes as part of the Out of the Loop Fringe Festival March 3-6 at Addison Theatre Centre.

Other faculty performing in festival events include Mary Lynn Babcock, associate professor of dance and theatre, and Ellie Leonhardt, lecturer in dance and theatre.

Hayes is former actor with Grotowski’s Polish Laboratory Theatre and has continued to work in Central Europe with the Polish National Theatre. Hayes has acted Off-Broadway, in regional theaters, film and commercials. 

She appears in the film Uncertain, TX, scheduled to be released in 2011. She has performed in Dallas-Fort Worth productions of Oklahoma! for Casa Mañana at Bass Hall, Buried Child at Kitchen Dog Theater, Greendale at Undermain Theatre and in Always, Patsy Cline

Alumna Marian Brock, who starred in Oscar winner God of Love, said she “learned the work of being an actor” from Hayes.

The Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, in suburban Addison, is a 10‐day celebration of theater, dance, music and art featuring arts organizations and artists from across the nation.
